This kind of diseases, unfortunately, are incurable and produce a serie of debilitating conditions; actually to exist varied research about this topic.
Some examples of neurodegenerative diseases are Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and other dementias, Parkinson’s disease (PD) and PD-related disorders, Prion disease, Motor neurone diseases (MND), Huntington’s Disease (HD), Spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA) and Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA); but in animals this topic do not have much relevant as in humans medicine.
The process of neurodegeneration is not well-understood, do not exist a cure for this disease
Do not exist a cure for these diseases because the process of neurodegeneration is not well-understood. Palliative treatments are performed, that is to say the disease symptoms but not controlled.
In Veterinary Medicine: numerous neurodegenerative diseases have also been described in domestic animals but relatively little work has been reported. Degenerative Myelopathy in dogs, is a fatal, neurodegenerative disease characterized by a general lack of coordination of muscle movements in the pelvic limbs. (185 words)
