Neurodegenerative diseases

Neurodegenerative disease is a term assigned to a group of diseases that affect the nervous system (brain and spinal cord), are progressive degeneration and/or neuronal death. This kind of diseases, unfortunately, are incurable and produce a serie of debilitating conditions; actually to exist varied research about this topic.

Some examples of neurodegenerative diseases are Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and other dementias, Parkinson’s disease (PD) and PD-related disorders, Prion disease, Motor neurone diseases (MND), Huntington’s Disease (HD), Spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA) and Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA); but in animals this topic do not have much relevant as in humans medicine.

The process of neurodegeneration is not well-understood, do not exist a cure for this disease
Do not exist a cure for these diseases because the process of neurodegeneration is not well-understood. Palliative treatments are performed, that is to say the disease symptoms but not controlled.

In Veterinary Medicine: numerous neurodegenerative diseases have also been described in domestic animals but relatively little work has been reported. Degenerative Myelopathy in dogs, is a fatal, neurodegenerative disease characterized by a general lack of coordination of muscle movements in the pelvic limbs. (185 words)

A career-related website that I recommend

A career-related website that I recommend is http://www.monografiasveterinaria.uchile.cl. In this website we can found a lot articles about different subjects of Veterinary Medicine. I discovered this website when I searched information about heart weakness in dogs, I liked the how to teach this topic; the information is very clear, the articles are in Spanish, also is a reliable website because there are articles written for teachers of our University, even of our Faculty.
This website I found it this year and I do not use a lot, but sometimes when I want to know some related with the career I search in this website. I don`t like that this site is a little outdated because the last publication is on year 2002, however I believe that is very useful for to know our career of in a way clear and amiable.
I think that this website of articles about Veterinary Medicine is a good way of begin to learn and relate with this beautiful and amazing career.(167 words)

I want to visit Iceland; this country is in Arctic Circle (European continent). Your language is Icelandic, also thy speak English and Danish. This is a small country, only there is 331,000 inhabitants. I want to go Iceland because I would like to know your landscape, have the Midnight Sun (really the sun is at 00:00 o`clock) and Polar Night (night has a duration of 24 hours); this natural occurrence are specific to Arctic Circle).
I would want walking, knowing and enjoying your nature and culture.
